Automation Engineer in Composites (KTP Associate)

Location: Pentaxia, Derby
Salary: £30,000 - £33,000 per annum
Hours: full-time

Fixed term for 24 months to start as soon as possible.

In collaboration with Pentaxia, we have an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for intelligent automation in manufacturing to help us develop an automated cell for composites layup.

The post will be based in Pentaxia and will involve developing software that can interface with off the shelf automation
hardware solutions such as robotic arms, programmable logic controllers and other hardware kit as well as customer grade devices such as Microsoft Kinect. You should have experience in developing software using open source libraries for robotics control, bio-inspired algorithms, machine learning, and sensor signal processing.

You should have a PhD in robotics or computer science. You will have the ability to take ownership over the project, working with the academic supervisors and the company’s product development team to set and deliver ambitious targets. You must have high levels of communication and team working skills as well as the ability to independently conduct both industrial and academic research, turn fundamental research solutions to applied industrial solutions, demonstrable ability to write high impact academic journals, good hardware and software skills and demonstrable creativity to solve problems.
