Research Associate in Machine Learning and Internet of Things for Healthy Sleep
Salary: Grade 7 £31,302 - £39,609 per annum.

We are seeking to recruit a Research Associate to contribute within the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering. The position is associated with the IoT4HealthySleep project which runs from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2022. We are seeking a Research Associate who will work actively on Machine Learning and Internet of Things (IoT) methods
as part of the IoT4HealthySleep project.
This multi-disciplinary project is in collaboration with partners from the University of Oxford and Sheffield Children’s
Hospital. Polysomnography and video data will be processed and the objective is to improve the process of analysing sleep
studies and develop a framework for IoT applications. The data include Electroencephalogram (EEG), Electromyography
(EMG), Electrocardiography (ECG), video and others. Machine learning and sensor data fusion approaches will be
considered as well as technologies that are able to provide insight into the patterns of sleeping behaviour.
You will hold a MEng/MSc/PhD (or have equivalent experience) in engineering, applied mathematics sciences, signal
processing, electrical engineering or in another relevant discipline, which will provide the skills required for the research. A
background in experimental research is essential, as is knowledge of probabilistic machine learning methods, computer
vision video analytics and sensor data fusion. Also knowledge of IoT platforms and wearable sensors would be beneficial.
Experience in conducting research projects both individually and as part of a team will be an advantage.
