We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate to develop advanced monitoring systems that will optimise the operational cost and performance of the next generation of Rolls-Royce’s large civil gas turbine engines, delivering a step change in
capability, availability and efficiency through-out their life. This project exploits recent advances in data science and machine learning so to develop and deploy advanced analytic and reasoning systems designed to extract value from industrial data.
This project will apply your skills in data science and machine learning to solve real world problems of interest to industry today. The post holder will perform data analysis, collaboratively with industrial partners, to develop use cases and
requirements for the system, which will be used to direct the development of analysis and reasoning software modules to determine the value of transferring and analysing data. The solutions will be demonstrated on a hardware-in-the-loop simulation facility composing of system models, embedded computers and the Cloud computing analysis platform. Ultimately, solutions will be used by Industry in a Cloud-hosted fleet management solution.
The successful applicant will work with Centre’s multi-disciplinary team to research and develop innovative technologies in support of the Centre’s Control and Health Management Research Vision. Applicants should provide evidence of initiative in
applying technical skills to real world problems and a drive to see solutions deployed within Industrial products. Applicants should hold a good first degree in a relevant area along with a PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant area (for example industrial work experience). Above all, we are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest in technology and thirst to explore new technologies, learn and apply their engineering skills to real-world control systems
