Alexandros Paspatis graduated with his Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Democritus University of Thrace (D.U.Th.) Greece. During his senior year he was with the Power Systems Laboratory, D.U.Th. working on his Diploma Thesis titled: Analysis of Dynamic Behaviour of a Microgrid during Faults. Parallel to his studying he worked as an intern at Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority and Plastika Kritis (PLAKR), S.A..
From September 2016, he is with the Control and Power Systems (CAPS) in the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering, University of Sheffield, as a PhD student. He conducts research on power system control and stability via his PhD project: Advanced control of distributed generation units to develop self-protected microgrids. He is supervised by Dr G Konstantopoulos and Professor M Mayfield.
