Research Funding and Scholarships
We are pleased to be able to offer scholarships to prospective research students.
Please Note: You only have to apply once for a University Prize Scholarship, Doctoral Academy/Faculty Scholarship, China Scholarship Council (if you are eligible) or a Departmental Scholarship. You will be considered for all of these Scholarship schemes with the one application.
The deadline for applications is 5pm (GMT) on Wednesday 25 January 2017. There are no guarantees that late submissions will be processed.
7 February 2017 Update - the deadline for applications is closed. Scholarship applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application as soon as possible.
Only applications with offers and a strong supporting case from prospective Supervisor(s) will be considered by a departmental panel. Evidence of an interview is mandatory.

Departmental Prize Scholarship
Cover full fees and provide maintenance at the RCUK rate, available to both home and overseas students.
EPSRC Doctoral Training Account (DTA) awards
Provide full fees and maintenance at the RCUK rate for UK students, or fees only for Home/EU students.
Departmental Fee Scholarship
Cover full fees, available to overseas students only.

China Scholarship Council Scholarships
This scheme provides academically excellent Chinese students with the opportunity to study for a PhD at the University of Sheffield. The scholarships are supported jointly by the China Scholarship Council and the University of Sheffield.
The scholarship will cover University tuition fees, a grant for living costs and one return flight from China to the UK. Funding for each award will be up to 48 months. Successful candidates will be expected to have submitted their thesis and defended it via oral examination by month 48.
Full details (including eligibility) can be found here. Please note that to be considered for a CSC scholarship, applicants must have an unconditional offer in place before the 1st February 2017 deadline (1700 GMT), therefore please ensure you apply for postgraduate research early.
