Mr José Antonio Peñuelas Alvarez, BSc, MSc
Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering
University of Sheffield
Sheffield S1 3JD

Room: 316, Sir Henry Stephenson Building

I received a B.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering from ITESM, Mexico City in 2010.

In 2011 I worked as a Customer Service Engineer at Continental Automotive Systems, where I was responsible for analysing failures in electronic transmission modules.

In 2012 I completed a M.Sc. in Control Systems at The University of Sheffield.

During 2012-2013 I worked as a research engineer at Cidesi (Conacyt Research Centre) in the area of Automatic Control.

In 2013 I joined The University of Sheffield for the completion of a PhD in Automatic Control under the supervision of Dr. Hua-Liang Wei. The project consists in analysing historical data from a producing oil field under water injection. The objective is to identify the field’s dynamics and optimise the water injection while maximising oil production using system identification techniques..

Research Interests

  • Non-Linear System Identification
  • Enhanced Oil Recovery
  • Machine Learning
  • Computational Modelling
