This innovative and popular module gives you the unique opportunity to work with our prestigious industry partners as part of your course. Unlike a traditional placement which requires you to take a year out of your studies, the ITP is incorporated into our courses.

Bringing your knowledge to life

The ITP’s are run in collaboration with Rolls-Royce and the High Value Manufacturing Catapult.

Applying the engineering knowledge you’ve acquired throughout your studies, you’ll work in small groups to analyse and solve an open-ended problem set by industry related to the design, production, quality or service performance of a part or component.

Building industrial relations

With your future career in mind, this is your opportunity to network with some of the biggest names in industry and make a good impression.

The practical experience you’ll gain on the module gives you valuable evidence to draw upon in applications and interviews too.

Academic learning and practical experience

Alongside a comprehensive programme of academic learning and practical experience, there’s a strong emphasis on developing your team-working and independent study skills on the ITP.

You’ll attend academic lectures and industrial seminars, as well as analysis, laboratory work and site visits at Rolls-Royce, Airbus and a High Value Manufacturing Catapult Centre. You’ll be supported throughout by your academic Mentor.

Cranfield Flying Day

In year three, you'll get to experience a flight test on board a jet stream aircraft at Cranfield University as part of the innovative Aircraft Dynamics and Control module.

The aim of this module is to help you understand the principles of aircraft performance, flight dynamics and the problems of controlling aircraft motion.
