Research

Biography

Investigation of model algae species Chlamydomonas reinhardtii and snow algae Chlamydomonas nivalis for increased lipid production under stress conditions. Proteomic investigation of these species under lipid accumulation conditions in order to better understand algal regulation of triacylglycerides that can be used for biofuels production.

My investigations are largely carried out on the proteomic level using the iTRAQ quantification methodology and high throughput mass spectrometry.

Completed undergraduate Degree in Biology (MBiolSci) at the University of Sheffield, and now in third year of algal biofuels research as part of the E-Futures DTC PhD program. My main interests are in renewable energies, algal biofuels, algal physiology, lipid production and analysis, and proteomic analysis methods.
