Academic and Learning Services provides professional development for staff who teach, for postgraduate research students and early career researchers with teaching responsibilities, and for staff support learning and teaching, such as educational developers and faculty or department based administrative staff.
Professional development for learning and teaching is provided by the Professional Development Team in LeTS. This provision includes the Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching for those new to teaching as University Lecturers or Teachers, and workshops and support for more experienced teachers.
The Professional Development Team also provides the Sheffield Teaching Assistant programme for postgraduate researchers and early career researchers, and runs the Learning and Teaching Professional Recognition Scheme leading to HEA Fellowships at the University
The Registry and Student Administration Team and LeTS each contribute to the Supporting the Supporters programme which provides development and guidance on the broad range of student support matters, from administration through to personal and academic support.
The Professional Development Team also organises the University's Annual Learning & Teaching Conference.
