Sheffield graduate brews best beer

pint of beer being drunk

A real ale brewed by Sheffield graduate Dave Wickett, at his Kelham Island Brewery, has just been named the best beer in Britain.

Pale Rider was chosen as overall winner at the Great British Beer Festival in London, beating more than 50 finalists. It surpassed beers in eight categories, brewed by both major and micro breweries.

Judges said they were struck by the superb balance of malt, hops and fruit and described the beer as refreshing. Our congratulations go to David and his Kelham Island team.
