Law alumni celebrate Centenary in style

Vice-Chancellor addressing the crowd

More than 100 Law graduates from London and the South East enjoyed a special drinks reception at Gray’s Inn recently.

The event was hosted by one of our most distinguished graduates, the Rt Hon Lord Justice Maurice Kay (LLB 1964, PhD 1971), and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bob Boucher. It was one of a series of alumni events and reunions taking place throughout 2005 to celebrate the University’s Centenary, and gave alumni the opportunity to meet up with former classmates and relive old memories of their student days in Sheffield.

The event also provided an opportunity for guests to hear all about the latest news and developments from the Law School from Professor John Birds, the current Head of Department and one of the country’s leading authorities on company and insurance law. This included the launch of a Centenary fundraising campaign for Law to raise money for student hardship bursaries, upgrading teaching equipment, periodicals and journals, and the pro-bono FreeLaw project.
