Alumni meet at the House of Commons

Richard Caborn MP and David Blunkett MP with the Vice-Chancellor

The House of Commons was the location for a very special alumni Centenary dinner last week. This event, which sold out within three days, was hosted by The Rt Hon David Blunkett MP (BA Politics 1972), and gave alumni, University staff and Sheffield MPs the opportunity to celebrate the University’s first 100 years.

Table setting

106 guests enjoyed a drinks reception overlooking the Thames, followed by dinner in the House of Commons’ Churchill Dining Room. After dinner, Mr Blunkett gave a speech in which he remembered with great affection his time as a student at the University.

Due to the overwhelming demand for tickets for this special event, we hope to be able to repeat it again next year.
