Alumni celebrate the Centenary Year
Alumni who graduated before 1965 returned to the University for a Special Centenary Dinner on 30 July.
The dinner, hosted by Professor Peter Fleming, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for External Affairs, was a great success. Firth Hall was full to capacity as nearly 200 alumni returned to celebrate the University’s Centenary Year and rekindle friendships that for some started before World War Two.
Guests were entertained by Professor Frederick Holliday’s speech, which was full of reminiscences of Sheffield in the 1950s, including colourful tales of lodgings and their associated landladies.
People travelled from as far as Malaysia and the USA and from all across the United Kingdom to attend.
