University treasures displayed to the public
Last weekend the public were given a unique viewing of the University’s special collection of artefacts and pictures relating to its 100-year history.
The exhibition was part of the Heritage Weekend, organised by the Centenary Office to open up the University to the wider Sheffield community.
Some of the historic items on display included the University's charter and memorabilia from the official opening in 1905, a selection of antique scientific instruments and rare books from the University's library collections, selected pieces of University silver, and items from the Turner Glass Museum.
The collection was available for viewing over the whole weekend, and it provided another fascinating insight into the University's history and its close relationship with the city and people of Sheffield.
