Journalism studies graduate scoops another award

Journalism Studies graduate Felicity Hay has won another top award for her reporting skills. She was named Reporter of the Year at the Guardian Student Media Awards held in London on 9 November.

Felicity, who recently graduated from Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in Journalism Studies, worked as news editor on the University’s student newspaper Steel Press. It was for her work on Steel Press that Felicity won the award. As a result of winning she has been rewarded with a six-week work placement at Sky News and a week's work experience at the Guardian newspaper.

The Guardian Student Media Awards recognise and reward the very best student journalists, editors and photographers. Judges this year included Alan Rusbridger, editor of the Guardian; Jon Snow, Channel 4 News presenter; Mark Frith, Heat magazine; editor and ITN presenter Katie Derham.

Earlier this year Felicity was awarded the Press Gazette Student Journalist of the Year prize and also named Student News Writer of the Year at the annual Press Gazette awards.
