Dinner held for Former Staff of the University

160 former staff attended the annual dinner for former staff and friends of the University, at Firth Court on Thursday 10 July 2008.

Despite the inclement weather guests enjoyed a drinks reception, sponsored by the Development and Alumni Relations Office, in the Krebs Room in Firth Court. This was followed by a four-course meal held in Firth Hall. Entertainment was provided during the drinks reception and the dinner by string quartet, The Peaks Quartet.

With this dinner now firmly established in the annual events’ calendar, those attending had fun catching up with old friends who had worked at the University over many years. The evening was rounded off with a short speech from the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Keith Burnett. This was the first time he had hosted the dinner, after joining the University in October 2007, so guests were particularly keen to hear his thoughts and future plans for the University.

We look forward to welcoming former staff back to the University at next year’s dinner, which will be held on Thursday 9 July 2009.
