Government now matches your donations

There’s now a great added incentive for you to make a donation to support our University. For every £1 you donate, the University will receive an extra 33p from the UK government under their new Matched Funding for Universities scheme.

This exciting new initiative started on 1 August 2008, and will run for three years. It aims to encourage alumni and others to support English Higher Education institutions. We want to help the brightest and best students in the country to access a University education at Sheffield, regardless of their financial means; and to provide the extra edge of excellence in teaching, research and facilities that will give today’s students the best possible preparation for their lives after University.

By making a gift now, you can help us to access a potential £2.75 million in extra funding from the government. Your matched gift will help us to provide even better resources and support for Sheffield students – and provide even more reasons for you to be proud to be a Sheffield graduate.

More great news is that this scheme is not just open to UK donors – all cash donations from overseas will also be matched. So no matter where you are in the world, we can add a further 33% to the value of your gift, at no extra cost to you.

And as a further added bonus, if you are a UK taxpayer and donate through Gift Aid, the government will also match the Gift Aid on your donation, enabling us to increase the total value of your gift by up to 70%.

See below for an example of how the government scheme will make your donation go even further.

There has never been a better time to support our University – please help us to take advantage of the government’s new scheme, and make a gift today!
