The Development and Alumni Relations Office had a very special visitor on Tuesday 22 July, when renowned Canadian author, lecturer and leading expert on biotechnology and ethics Maureen McTeer came back to campus to receive an honorary degree.

Maureen was awarded an LLD (Doctor of Law) at the School of Law's graduation ceremony. This honour has been accorded in recognition of her leading role furthering and facilitating international dialogue between the fields of law, ethics and biotechnology, and for her pioneering work in the field of women’s health and equality that has provided inspiration and encouragement to women worldwide.

Maureen has been a friend of the Alumni Office for quite some time, and is Chair of our new Canada Alumni Fund. She hosted a Sheffield alumni reception in Toronto last year, but this was the first time she has returned to Sheffield since her graduation. We were delighted to welcome back and honour one of our most illustrious and inspiring alumnae.
