‘The Architecture of George Devey’ Alumni Reception, 8 December 2011

The Development and Alumni Relations Office welcomed local Sheffield alumni to a festive drinks and nibbles reception at the Western Bank Exhibition ‘The Architecture of George Devey’ on Thursday 8 December.

The exhibition displayed a collection of Devey’s architectural drawings and photographs. George Devey was an important figure in the evolution of Arts and Crafts architecture; he designed several large and attractive houses across the British Isles, including Ascott, Betteshanger, Coombe Warren and St Alban’s Court.

Alumni enjoyed a tour of the exhibition and a talk from Professor Peter Blundell Jones from the School of Architecture who spoke about the work of George Devey. The event also provided an excellent opportunity to meet and mix with fellow alumni living in the Sheffield area.
