Tenpin Bowling Club, 1967 to 1976 Reunion Weekend

Ten Pin Bowling - Experience Counts

On November the 27th and 28th 2010, the Sheffield Students Tenpin Bowling Club, from the 1967 to 1976 period, got together for their 5th reunion. The Ex students, now all in their 60´s or close to it, came from all over the world to have a weekend of food, drink and of course bowling. Around 50 turned up from Australia, Canada, USA, and Europe, as well as the UK, for drinks at the Broomhill Tavern Saturday lunch, followed by a dinner at the University Arms.

The weather nearly messed things up, but when you come from far away, nothing will stop an event like this.

On the Sunday the ex students bowled among themselves and the best 10 were selected to play against the current student team in the afternoon. We met the students for lunch at Firth Park Bowl, and then got down to serious bowling. On the last 4 occasions, the ex students have won 3 and lost only once. Well they did it again, beating the current students by 12 points to 0. But who cares what the result is, they went away with a case of beer anyway.

Thanks to Firth Park Bowling Alley for hosting us again, as well as the University Arms for the Saturday meal and the Alumni Office who help us find our old friends. We are looking forward to the next one in 2014.
