Sheffield Sabres American Football

• Applied to the Alumni Foundation in November 2013
• Awarded £750

Sheffield Sabres American Football Club applied to the Alumni Foundation in November 2013. The club had litGroup action shottle funds to invest in new equipment as the majority of finances are used to keep the club running.

American Football is a high contact sport requiring the use of safe helmets and shoulder pads. Many of the helmets the club owned had expired their recommended lifespan, posing potential health and safety risk with some helmets being up to 8 years old.

The Alumni Foundation awarded the club £750. The grant was immediately put to use in buying 6 Rawlings NRG Impulse helmets. This contribution has meant that the club able to equip more players every year with the correct safety equipment as well as generally increasing the level of participation in American Football within the University.
