Serving up spectacular spices for the Sheffield Scanner

The 'expert curry servers'Vina Khan, Head of Finance for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health, has been fundraising for the Sheffield Scanner by cooking a sumptuous curry lunch for friends and colleagues.

The fundraising lunch took place at the Faculty’s centre at Barber House on 21 August and raised over £150 to support the Scanner appeal. More than 40 people attended and were treated to tomato and coriander chicken curry; chick peas with cucumber raita, mint and red onion chutney; and rice pilau with peppercorns, cinnamon, onion, garlic and chilli flakes. This was followed by a delicious fresh cream sponge delight.

Miles Stevenson, Director of Advancement said:

“A very big thank you to Vina and her husband Aftab – for such a beautiful lunch and all the hard work and preparation they put into it. Fundraising occasions like this are huge fun and create a wonderful atmosphere. We are indebted to Vina for moving us one stage closer to getting the MRI-PET scanner.”

Vina Khan said that:

“It was a bit of a mammoth task and we are absolutely exhausted now! But all worthwhile to see so many happy colleagues and friends enjoying the food and at the same time raising some money for the Scanner.”
