Top 10 drinks spots

After a few weeks off we are back with another trip down memory lane, this time with our Top 10 places to go for drinks. As always, take a look at the list below, remember your favourite spots, and let us know in the comments on our social media pages.

The Endcliffe Bar

Your Hall's Bar

Often the first place you’ll go when you get to Uni; the Halls bars typically become favourites. A great location to meet other students living with you, and they’re right on your doorstep, so no long walk home. We’ve heard many a tale of raucous, fun-filled evenings in the Ranmoor and Tapton bars.

Kelham Island

Kelham Island

If you do want a bit of a walk then, especially for beer lovers, Kelham Island is a necessity. The Fat Cat and Kelham Island Tavern are renowned as not only some of the best pubs in Sheffield, but some of the best in the country, and a great opportunity to meet some of the wonderful Sheffield locals.

Interval (or the old Graves Building)

Interval (or the old Graves Building)

Famed for once having the longest bar in the country, the old Graves Building, now Interval, has long been a part of the Students’ Union. When it first opened alcohol was not permitted to be served, a stipulation by Mr JG Graves who paid for the building, and it is still known to serve a great hot chocolate.

Frog and Parrot

Frog and Parrot

Sitting on Division Street the Frog and Parrot has been a regular on the Sheffield scene for ages. For many years the pub was well known for hosting a brewery in the basement, with a glass window in the floor through which you could look down and see the beer being made.

The Forum

The Forum

If you’re wanting somewhere to enjoy the sun then the Forum, with its terrace stretching out onto Devonshire Green, is a must. Perfect for after work drinks and people watching during the summer.

Corporation

Corporation

Of course the counter to the bright outside is the dark of Corporation, possibly the only place on the planet that serves Irn Bru on tap. Whilst it doesn’t serve the highest of quality drinks it does serve some of the most memorable, whether you want it bright orange, blue or green.

Coffee Revolution

Coffee Revolution

Sometime during your time at Sheffield you actually have to do some studying, and Coffee Revolution can be a lifeline in helping this happen. Whether it is providing a vital injection of caffeine, or just a comfortable spot to share ideas with your group, Coffee Rev is a firm favourite.

Hallamshire House

Hallamshire House

You always need a local near to your student house, and one of the favourites is the Hallamshire House, serving the thousands of students living in Crookes, and the locals besides.

Fox and Duck

Fox and Duck

Though for those who lived in Broomhill their allegiance may lie with the Fox and Duck. Formerly run by the Students’ Union, and popular with clubs and societies, the pub is not quite the institution it once was, but still a fixture in the memories of many.

University Arms

University Arms

Where would a list of university watering holes be without the beloved University Arms? For many years this was reserved only for University staff, though now it is open to all. Plus it has a remarkably large and green beer garden for a bit of calm right in the middle of the hectic campus.
