Fourth year Mechanical Engineering student Stuart Mashford became the first recipient of a generous scholarship courtesy of Barnsley-based engineering contract management company Norec Ltd.

The scholarship, worth £2,000, is designed to help one student every year from the South Yorkshire region to complete their Mechanical Engineering degree.

Norec's General Manager Greg Kelly and Finance Director Garry Warburton presented a delighted Stuart with his scholarship cheque on 2 October in the University's Mechanical Engineering Department. Also in attendance were the Head of the Department, Professor Eann Patterson, and Dr Stephen Beck, one of Stuart's regular tutors.

The University is delighted to have the support of Norec and we look forward to helping more deserving Engineering students in the future.
