Hong Kong Alumni Drinks Reception – Saturday 12 May 2012
University of Sheffield graduates and friends gathered for a drinks reception in the Island Tang Restaurant in Hong Kong on Saturday 12th May. Over 70 alumni met to reconnect and share stories about their time in Sheffield as a student. The sparkling drinks reception was hosted by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Keith Burnett. Dr Philip Harvey (Registrar and Secretary) Professor Rebecca Hughes (Pro-Vice Chancellor, International), Professor Tony Payne (Pro-Vice Chancellor for Social Sciences) Miles Stevenson and Alison Muir also welcomed alumni and friends.
Professor Burnett and the President of the Hong Kong alumni group, Susanna Chiu both spoke on the evening about the importance of promoting the University of Sheffield to family and friends. In the year that the University of Sheffield was named Times Higher Education University of the Year, guests were delighted to hear about the recent successes at the University. It was a great opportunity for alumni to reminisce and share memories about their time spent at Sheffield.
The University party were pleased to meet so many graduates living and working in Hong Kong. It was fantastic to see that there is so much pride and passion for Sheffield on the other side of the world.
