1952 and 1962 Reunion Luncheon

Class of 1952 at 2012 reunion luncheon

On Saturday 23 June 2012, the classes of 1952 and 1962 returned to Sheffield for the annual reunion luncheon to celebrate 50 and 60 years since they graduated from the University.

Alumni guests enjoyed welcome drinks at Firth Court, followed by a sit-down luncheon served in Firth Hall.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul White welcomed alumni to the reunion and updated guests on recent developments at the University. A speech followed from Professor Anthony Fretwell-Downing, who represented the class of 1962 and spoke on behalf of the alumni about his time at Sheffield, sharing recollections from his student days and his subsequent career.

The speeches were rounded off with a presentation from Miles Stevenson, Director of Alumni and Donor Relations, who narrated archive video footage of the University from years gone by.

Following lunch, alumni were invited to take tours of the campus and Information Commons, enabling them to see the dramatic changes that have taken place on the campus since they studied here between fifty and sixty years ago.

The day ended with refreshments in the Interval Café within the original Students’ Union Graves building. A prize draw saw three lucky alumni win a selection of University goodies, before a final farewell from the alumni team concluded the 2012 event.
