Alumni Reception of the International Faculty of the University of Sheffield in Belgrade
In October 2012 the International Faculty of the University of Sheffield, CITY College held a reception for all its graduates in Serbia, hosted by the British Ambassador Michael Davenport at the British Embassy in Belgrade.
More than 250 alumni attended this first reunion and had the unique opportunity to re-connect with old classmates, meet new fellow-alumni, dig up memories from their university years and find out how the International Faculty has changed and developed since their graduation.
Academic and administration staff of CITY College was also present at the reception. Mr. George Efstathiadis, Executive MBA Director, TUOS International Faculty, CITY College and Ambassador Davenport warmly welcomed all alumni.
Mr. Efstathiadis highlighted the importance of the event as “an excellent opportunity for alumni and students to meet each other, discuss alumni issues, be introduced to the University plans and explore future opportunities for better networking and life-long learning.” Mr Efstathiadis also expressed the wish for this reception to become the start of a long-standing tradition.
Ambassador Davenport said he was delighted to welcome in the British residence the alumni of the UK University of the year 2011, some of whom the Embassy interacts with during the regular activities.
The International Faculty of the University of Sheffield has a strong community of alumni in Serbia with graduates from the programmes offered in its main campus in Thessaloniki but also from the Executive MBA programme offered locally in Belgrade since 2006. Managers from large companies and organizations in Serbia have attended the MBA programme, gained valuable knowledge and skills and built an invaluable professional network. Except for the MBA, graduates from other academic programmes, have marked an exceptional career in Serbia after their graduation and today hold important posts in different industry sectors.
The Sheffield alumni in Serbia left the reception with the promise to meet again soon.
