Heritage Circle Lunch 2012

Guests at table eating lunch

The Vice-Chancellor Professor Keith Burnett hosted the third annual lunch on Friday 19 October, for members of the Heritage Circle gift club. This gift club has been established to recognise the special commitment of people who choose to support the University through a planned gift in their will.

The day commenced at noon with a drinks reception in Firth Hall and guests had the opportunity to meet fellow alumni, members of staff and the guest speakers. A lovely hot lunch buffet was served to guests and this was followed by a selection of talks.

Professor Nigel Dunnett and Professor James Hitchmough from the Department of Landscape spoke about their experience as Principal Horticultural and Planting Design Consultants on the Olympic Park. The second talk was from Dr Richard France from the School of Health and Related Research spoke about his current research into assisted living/digital healthcare and keeping elderly people in their homes for longer. The final talk was delivered by Jahaan Abdurahman (2012, BSc Psychology). Jahaan spoke to guests about her student experience and her involvement with SIFE (Sheffield in Free Enterprise).
