Alumni Drinks in Manchester -Thursday 26 April
Sheffield alumni from Manchester and the surrounding area braved the inclement weather to make it to an informal drinks gathering at Purity Manchester (previously Bar 38) on Thursday 26 April 2012.
The evening was the next in the series of our “Bringing Sheffield to You” events, which have previously been held in other cities around the UK, including Newcastle, Birmingham and Cardiff.
Guests were welcomed in from the rain by staff from the Development and Alumni Relations Office, who spoke to alumni about their time at Sheffield, as well as updating them on recent news from the University. It was also a great opportunity for alumni to meet up with friends and to chat to other alumni about Sheffield.
After drinks and nibbles, guests were thanked for their attendance and a fun prize draw saw three alumni each win an alumni goodie bag containing, among other things either a copy of the Students’ Union centenary history book ‘Standing up for Students’, a silk University tie or a signed Joe Scarborough print of ‘Our Students’ Journey’.
Despite the weather putting a few off from attending, the spirits of those present could not be dampened and the evening was a great success in terms of reconnecting with alumni in the Manchester area.
We will be continuing to host this series of informal events for Sheffield alumni to meet up in other cities over the coming months.
