The University of Sheffield is now on Just Giving. This enables all alumni, staff and friends to raise sponsorship for any charitable project at the University.
Over £3,000 has been raised so far and with your help we are hoping to raise even more funds for the University’s charitable priorities including, student hardship support, departmental projects and medical research. See our profile here: http://www.justgiving.com/sheffielduni/
It is very easy to set up a page and the charity you should select to receive the donations is the "University of Sheffield". The University is an exempt charity (X1089) enabling us to register with Just Giving and allowing us to also claim Gift Aid on any sponsorship received.
In the section "Your Story", you can add information into this section which will appear on your Just Giving page. It is here that you can include information about your chosen project at the University and also about the event that you are taking part in. As an example, please follow the links to some other pages set up to raise funds for different areas of the University.
Our office is responsible for the recording of donations received by the University and we act as the liaison point with Just Giving, who send us the money raised through their web pages for our organisation. We will then ensure that all the money raised through your Just Giving page is passed on to your chosen project.
If you do have supporters who wish to donate offline, please get them to make a cheque payable to the University of Sheffield and send them into the Development, alumni Relations and Events office. We then process them separately from the website and you can also add the amounts of these offline donations to your online total.
