Achieve More: ThinkCreate

4 February 2015

Achieve More is a university-wide initiative to engage students beyond their academic study through faculty-based challenges. ThinkCreate was hosted by the Faculty of Arts & Humanities and saw all 900 first-year undergraduate students working in multi-disciplinary groups to identify a problem and collaborate across all departments to create a solution.

Alumni involvement

25 alumni spent the day with the student groups, acting as mentors to whom students could pitch their ideas and receive feedback and advice based on the alumnus’ personal experience and career expertise.

Students were able to develop their communication and presentation skills and gain confidence working with professionals.

“It was great to see familiar faces on the day as well as meet new ones and I thoroughly enjoyed my time back in Sheffield.

It's great to know there's still a way to be involved in Sheffield and that I can (hopefully!) add value to current students' experiences.

I would highly recommend other alumni to get involved in volunteering for the University."
