Careers Service eMentoring Scheme
Autumn and Spring 2014/2015
The Careers Service eMentoring programme allows students to link with an alumni mentor working in an area of interest to them. The scheme runs twice a year (October-December and February-May) with a flexible schedule of online communication for 7-10 weeks.
In 2014/15 we matched 276 alumni mentors from a range of occupational areas to students from across departments. Alumni mentors gave their mentees practical advice and support on developing CVs and applications, preparing for interviews, professional networking and building their confidence and skills.
Students gained an insight into different occupations, felt clearer about career options, were better prepared to apply for jobs and attend interviews, and increased their confidence and networking skills.
“Fantastic mentor – gave great advice and was willing to help across a range of career topics. Thank you!”
“I’m so grateful to my alumni mentor for giving up her time for me. Alumni can act as a support network for undergraduates who might not always have one.”
“My mentor has been fantastic both on the views of the industry as well as cv skills and applying for placements. She literally could not be more helpful.”
