Speed Networking: Politics

12 March 2015

Speed Networking events allow students to talk to alumni from a variety of industries and sectors to find out more about the career options open to them. The event also aims to boost the confidence of students and develop their networking and communication skills.

Alumni Involvement

Alumni spoke to students in small groups for 10 minutes at a time before rotating to the next group of studnets.

Alumni discussed their own career paths and provided advice to students. The “speed networking” was followed by informal networking, allowing students more time to ask additional questions.

Results

26 students and nine alumni attended. Students found out more about their options post-graduation and gained valuable experience of networking in a friendly environment.

Students said:

“Thank you for being so supportive. This event has really motivated me.”

“Thanks so much for your time and your helpful advice! I will definitely act upon it.”

“Thank you for your excellent advice that will help me decide what to do next!”

“I hope one day I can offer the same degree of assistance that you have to the next generation of undergraduates.”
