Sheffield Connections: Joe Twyman

Sheffield Connections offers students from a widening participation background the chance to meet inspirational and successful alumni. A small group of students meet the graduate in an informal, relaxed setting over tea and cake. Students are then able to ask questions about the graduate’s time at Sheffield and career, as well as discussing their own career options or University choices.

Alumni Involvement

Joe Twyman, Head of Political and Social Research at YouGov, volunteered his time to speak to the students and offered them valuable, personal advice on job applications and interviews as well as sharing motivational stories about his own career path.

The Results

Students found out more about a career in Politics, whilst increasing their confidence of networking in a friendly environment. The meeting with Joe also gave the students the opportunity to answer mock interview questions, get feedback on their CVs and seek advice on their own career choices.
