Careers support

Advice, support and various work experience opportunities are available to all of our students throughout their degrees. All undergraduates do modules to help them develop essential research skills, alongside more general careers skills. The latter are designed to make you more employable in a wide range of fields. Details of some of the schemes that can help to improve your employability are listed below.

Sheffield Undergraduate Research Experience

The SURE scheme offers funded research scholarships for undergraduate to work with an academic on a piece of research during the summer.

SURE (administered by Learning and Teaching Services)

In addition, the University Careers Service supports APS students and graduates for up to three years after graduation. It provides services and support to help you:

  • Identify your career options
  • Develop and understand your skills
  • Find work experience, graduate jobs and opportunities for further study
  • Write CVs and applications
  • Prepare for interviews and assessment centres
  • Meet employers through recruitment fairs and presentations
  • Talk to an Adviser in confidence about any career issue

Find vacancies

Students and graduates can register and log in to Career Connect, which has a vacancy section that includes hundreds of graduate jobs, part-time jobs, vacation work, voluntary work, internships, placements, insight courses and open days.
