This module is designed to develop students skills in practical laboratory investigation, to improve their skills in written and verbal presentation, gain basic understanding of statistical analyses and experimental design and to develop an informed attitude to science and a critical approach to the meaning of scientific data.
Delivery method: 6 three hour laboratory practical classes, 2 three week projects, each involving 3 three hour lab and/ or field sessions, and 10 one hour tutorials.

Assessment method: A practical exam, assessed project reports, and assessed written work and oral presentations from tutorials. Tutorial essays must be submitted directly to your Tutor and also electronically through the TurnItIn system via MOLE. Students must pass both the tutorial and practical components to pass APS118
Feedback: Verbal feedback is given in practicals, projects and tutorials. Written feedback is given on project reports, tutorial essays, and other written tutorial work.
