Aims

This course will:

  1. provide students with an insight into current issues in animal and plant sciences through the medium of research presentations.
  2. foster and develop skills in the production, editing and presentation of written information.

Contents

Selected lectures and seminars within the Department of Animal and Plant Sciences

Delivery Method: Attendance at 10 departmental seminars from invited speakers. Follow up workshops will discuss the seminar delivery in terms of communication. There will be various activities (group and individual) within the workshops to offer guidance and practice in writing for the popular science genre.

Assessment Method and Weighting: Exam – 40%

Coursework - 50%

(both short written pieces)

Course notebook – 10%
