Support for our students
The students on our courses receive support throughout their degrees from our dedicated staff. Our students also take the lead by organising events and activities through their student societies, and they speak out about what's important to them.
How do we help?
Our academic and professional staff are committed to giving students everything they need to succeed at the University of Sheffield. Through our personal tutors system, our staff become the first port of call for any academic or personal matters, study support or careers advice. Students are also invited to join the APS Student-Staff Committee, so that they can have their say on the way things work in the department.
A huge range of support is offered by the University's Student Services Information Desk, whether it is to do with admin, well-being or immigration.
Outside the course
Through the Students' Union, many of our students join student societies, which cover a wide range of sports and social activities. Most APS undergraduates join the Natural History Society, or the Biology Society.
Students have also launched APS Femwork, a networking group that celebrates women in science.
