If having completed the University’s student discipline procedure, the student remains dissatisfied with the outcome of their case they may make a complaint (if eligible) to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education (OIA). Cases are managed by the Student Conduct and Appeals Team, in consultation with the academic department. This is a review of the case and the OIA will not engage with matters that relate solely to academic judgement. The OIA Good Practice Framework: Disciplinary Procedures, will inform the way that the OIA consider complaints relating to disciplinary matters. The OIA will be looking to establish whether the University has followed its own procedures correctly, the time taken to do so, and whether the decisions taken at the various stages of the process were fair and reasonable in all the circumstances.
