Blackboard Organisation request

This form is for the requesting of an organisation. It must not be used for any credit bearing teaching activities requiring student submission and is not to be used for the archiving of information. You are responsible for the content in the course and the user enrolments. The organisations are not backed up.

Please enter your details carefully and double check before submitting, as this information will be used to create the organisation, and enrol you on it. Any errors here could result in the failure of your request.

We aim to process these requests within 5 working days of submission.

Blackboard Organisations for welcome/induction activities

Organisation courses can be used by departments to deliver pre-arrival welcome and induction material to students. The request process for these Organisations is via a separate request form linked below.

Organisations for this activity should not be part of a student’s formal programme of study, and should not require students to undertake active study in advance of completing their registration or their course start date.

Students with a New Entrant registration status will be able to access an Organisation course after they have been manually enrolled by a staff member with a Leader role.

If you have content within another Blackboard course that you wish to transfer to a new Organisation, you can find guidance on how to copy content on this page. It is only possible to copy individual pieces of content between a standard Module Course and an Organisation.

We aim to process these requests within 5 working days of submission.

Organisation terms and conditions
  • As the requester of a Blackboard Organisation you agree to be the primary administrator of the Organisation and take full responsibility for the management of content and users
  • You should ensure you have permission and copyright clearance where required for all content placed in the Organisation
  • All user enrolments are managed manually, a function that Organisation Administrators can perform, however any users who leave the University will automatically be removed from all organisations during the Blackboard rollover period in the summer
  • Organisations have no end date and will not rollover like a course, so they remain in existence until a request is made to close them
  • Organisations have a 1GB storage limit
  • There should be no student work contained within an Organisation that directly relates to a final grade or credit. All credit bearing content should be contained in a course.
