Upload a media file

All common video and audio files can be added to Kaltura. There is no restriction on file size or duration, but please note uploads from domestic internet connections can be slow.

  1. Log into MUSE, click View All Services, and select Kaltura Digital Media Hub.




  2. Click Add New and select Media Upload.

  1. Follow the prompts on screen to select a media file, or drag and drop the file onto the upload box.




  2. Whilst the file is uploading, enter a Name, Description and add at least one metadata Tag.




  3. Select the appropriate Publishing Status: 
  • Private: Media page will be visible to the content owner only
  • Unlisted: Media page will be visible to anyone with a link to the page
  • Published: Media page will be visible to individuals according to entitlements on published destinations
  1. Check the terms and conditions information and tick the checkbox. 




  2. Click Save

Tip: File uploads to any website from home internet connections can be slow. To improve your upload speeds, connect to your router using a network cable where possible. Avoid uploading when others in the household are doing network intensive activities, and ensure you are not connected to any VPNs.


Add a video from YouTube

Any public or unlisted video can be added to Kaltura, unless the video creator has placed restrictions on the content.

  1. Log into MUSE, click View All Services, and select Kaltura Digital Media Hub.




  2. Click Add New and select YouTube.




  3. Enter the YouTube video URL and click Preview.




  4. Kaltura will automatically populate the Name and Description fields, but these can be edited.




  5. Custom tags can be added to the Tags field to help you find the media in the future.




  6. Select the appropriate Publishing Status: 
  • Private: Media page will be visible to the content owner only
  • Unlisted: Media page will be visible to anyone with a link to the page
  • Published: Media page will be visible to individuals according to entitlements on published destinations
  1. Check the terms and conditions information and tick the checkbox. 




  2. Click Save

Please note: When adding a video from YouTube, the content remains under the ownership of the original uploader. If they or YouTube remove the video it will also disappear from your Media Library. Videos from YouTube are ordinarily not accessible in China.
