Current Access and Participation Plan
The 2020-2025 Access and Participation was agreed and published in summer 2019 under current OfS rules and are hosted on the Governance and Management pages of the university website.
WPREU was involved in the planning and writing of the evaluation plan element of this document.
Previous Widening Participation Agreements
The University of Sheffield submitted to the Office of Fair Access (now the Office for Students - OfS) an Access Agreement covering the years 2006-2019. This set out our commitments to ensure fair access and student success for students from under-represented backgrounds, through outreach work, financial and other kinds of student support. The activities to which the University has committed itself are, therefore, an intrinsic part of the University's strategy for widening participation.
In July 2011, OFFA approved the University's Access Agreement for 2012-2013 which contained commitments to ensure fair access and student success in a new tuition fees environment. This was superseded by agreements for 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 (which will come into effect in September 2020).
Until a few years ago, the University was also required to submit a Widening Participation Strategic Statement (WPSS) to the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) outlining our approach to student support, success and retention.
All of the University's past and current Access Agreements and the WPSSs can be downloaded from the Downloads section on the right.
