The Widening Participation Research and Evaluation Unit (WPREU) are involved in delivering, supporting or working with academic members of staff to deliver a number of institution-specific projects on widening participation focused research. Currently, the unit is involved in the following research projects:
Financial Support Evaluation
Greg is working on the annual financial support evaluation, which looks at the effect of bursaries on WP students using both quantitative and qualitative methods. This feed back into the the University's strategic decisions around allocating future financial support.
Decolonising the Curriculum
Miriam and Julian are working with colleagues across the institution to provide staff with resources to support work on decolonising the curriculum. This includes a series of workshops (sign up to our mailing list for details of future events) and a forthcoming literature review due in Summer 2019.
Miriam and Greg have been working with HeppSY+ on several projects. This includes evaluating the impact of their outreach activities on BME and Roma pupils, exploring the approach the HeppSY+ team take to designing and implementing WP activities, and understanding school and college co-ordinators' responses to working with HeppSY and delivering outreach programmes in South Yorkshire.
For more information about any of these projects, please contact Dr Julian Crockford (firstname.lastname@example.org, telephone ext 22475).
