The St Patrick's Chapel Excavation Project now under way

The St Patrick's Chapel Excavation Project is now under way at Whitesands Bay in Pembrokeshire.

The project is a collaboration between Dr Katie Hemer (Archaeology) at the University of Sheffield and Dyfed Archaeological Trust, and involves the excavation of an early medieval Christian cemetery and chapel, and post-excavation analysis of the human remains.

With the help of volunteers from the local area, this year's excavation takes place between the 4th and 22nd May.

Visitors to the site have the opportunity to see our work as part of an organised schedule of daily tours and talks.

During the excavation, Katie will also be working with a film maker to capture the project with the aim of producing a short film for wider dissemination.

A 'dig diary' about the excavation can be found under the 'News' section of Dyfed Archaeological Trust's website: http://dyfedarchaeology.org.uk/
