Archaeological fieldschool (flexible programme)

Introduction to a Total Station in Hickleton churchyard

3rd August – 4th September 2009

The flexible fieldschool is running in Weeks 2 to 6 of this season´s fieldwork and the cost per person is £175 per week (this charge includes tuition fees, course materials, food and accommodation in the village hall campsite).

It is intended that participants will arrive at Brodsworth on the Sunday at the beginning of each fieldschool week (2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th August) and will complete 6 days of activities (Monday to Saturday) which will include introductory sessions relevant to the work being undertaken, practical periods working on the excavations and surveys being undertaken and some visits to local sites/museums including Brodsworth Hall (owned by English Heritage). Participants are welcome to book in for anything from 1 to 5 weeks. The first week will follow the structured programme outlined above. If you are staying for 2 or more weeks then the structure of the second/third week may be negotiated to give you further time on developing your experience of particular activities of interest to you. If you are interested in any one particular activity/method then you can negotiate concentrating on that activity or the group of activities that interest you most. It is the aim of this form of participation on the Project to be as flexible as possible allowing you to build the skills and experience you have identified as most important.
