Our courses

Study with us and we’ll introduce you to the richness, difference and diversity of humanity from deep history to modernity, to the thrill of discovery, and to the pleasures of research.  As an archaeology student at the University of Sheffield, we'll guide you in developing the skills that all archaeologists need but you'll take control of your own learning.  Our courses are designed to let you follow your special interests and develop your own areas of expertise.

You'll learn through a range of teaching methods: as well as hands-on fieldwork, there are lectures and seminars, practical classes, independent study, work placements and one-to-one tutorials. In addition, all our students are assigned a personal tutor, who they meet with at least four times a year and discuss whatever academic and personal issues they like.
