Profile

I joined the School in April 2020 having previously been based at the University of Nottingham where I completed my PhD. I have a background in physics, but my research interests have moved towards the intersection of urban research and sustainability science.

I am currently working with Professor Darren Robinson on the development of a multi-scale system dynamics model for generating scenarios relating to urban sustainability in order to identify and test policy levers.

Research interests

My research focuses on the operationalisation of sustainability at the urban scale using modelling and simulation, but I am also interested in how policy makers and non-specialists interpret and understand simulation models more generally.

My current methods focus on system dynamics modelling, and the feedback and interaction between urban phenomena, as well as across spatial scales. I am also interested in integrated assessment modelling more broadly and what applications it might have outside a specific climate focus.

From my research experiences I have developed an interest in interdisciplinarity and the barriers to realising it in practice. I am particularly interested in epistemological pluralism and how it is engaged with in research, pedagogy, and communication.
