- Profile
-
I joined the Sheffield School of Architecture in 2017 before I worked for the Kyoto University, Japan, as a JSPS Fellow and the University of Bath as a lecturer. I have a dual background in Architecture and Structural Engineering, and hold the degrees of BS Arch, MS Arch and PhD all from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan.
I am interested in exploring how natural materials can be used to minimise the environmental impact caused by the construction industry as well as strategies to achieve low impact in buildings.
Being part of our People, Environments and Performance (PEP) research group, I also work with industry and provide specialist advice to engineers and architects all over the world, I am partner of a UK-based consultancy firm: Time for Timber Ltd, and a Taiwan-based design consultancy: Studio Haruka. I also sit on a number of UK and European committees to facilitate the development of timber design guidelines for the industry.
I am now Director of Postgraduate Research Programme.
