Profile

As a practicing architect my background lies in social housing and in the re-use of buildings. More recently I have been involved with works to listed buildings, designing bespoke dwellings and with designing for disabled users.

Working very closely with clients and user group and establishing long -term relationships is characteristic of my work.

Research interests

My interests lie in the crossover between teaching and practice. I feel that my architectural knowledge and experience is valuable to students and that their fresh approach and idealistic intentions are an inspiration to me.

I am interested in social and environmental sustainability, especially with regard to social housing and urban design.

I believe in design through making; I enjoy the process of making drawings, models and mock-ups and see them as an invaluable way of exploring ideas.

Professional standing and distinctions

Our practice Architects Britch was established in 1995 and we have a reputation as hands-on architects with experience in a wide variety of projects. As a practice we get involved in projects we believe in and enjoy contributing to sustainable, creative and enjoyable built environments.

We have long-term relationships with many of our clients, some for over 10 years. We understand the time it takes to create a successful scheme, and enjoy the opportunity to be creative and engaged in the process.

We have developed skills in the innovative re-working of listed buildings but do not consider ourselves to be conservation architects, it is the re-purposing of buildings that secure their future and create dynamic urban environments.

We are becoming ever more conscious that it is people who make and animate buildings, and it is our role as architects to understand and support that with good design and beautiful spaces.
