OSCE Examiner Training
Workshop Description
If you are currently involved with teaching our Sheffield Medical Students and interested in clinical assessments, this OSCE workshop will introduce you to the basics in assessment theory, how to write OSCE stations, and brief you on the role of the examiner for the Sheffield OSCE. You may come along if you have a general or new interest in assessment, however, if you wish to be a regular examiner for the Sheffield OSCEs, this workshop is mandatory and would be the first step on registering as an examiner with The School of Medicine and Population Health.
If you maintain your interest in examining, then mandatory refreshers are required every three years. The refresher is an online seminar (1.5 hrs long) and a useful reminder of all that matters about the OSCE.
Please note - If you are a trainee GP or Consultant you cannot be paid for this work.
Aim
To enhance participants' understanding of assessment principles and introduce them to the role of an OSCE examiner.
Learning Outcomes
Create a novel OSCE station, working alongside colleagues and then critique and peer review them.
Explore the role of an OSCE examiner at The School of Medicine and Population Health.
Mark stations and discuss variation in marking including borderline performance.
